Default More non-human heroes, henches and player characters

Exactly what the title said. We had Talon Silverwing as a hench in Factions, now we're getting a centaur as a hero in Nightfall. This is great, but I don't feel it goes far enouhg. I am sooooooooooooooooooo massively bored of human classes in this game. Ever release is a different continent of humans.

Everquest has Iksar, Ratonga, Frogloks, Felines and such. Most other games offer a wide diverse variety of races. I'd find it extremely interesting to have a hero Naga or Tengu for example. Even in the very first FAQ for prophecies, I'm sure it mentioned somewhere that non human playable characters were being considered although I've never seen anything come from it.

Personally speaking, the idea of a draconian, demon, angel (okay, paragons are close) or such would thrill me more than yet another ethnic variation of a human. Anyone agree/disagree?

Actually, I'll add to the above, if I may. In my opinion, Necros are the only character that actually /drips\ evil in the game. They're so dubiously good and have more character because of it.

Everything, from their poses, to their summons, to their specials is EVIL. I can't say that about any other race in the game at all.

Why not add a few more dubiously 'good' non human races? A charr traitor for example. Charr are far too cool a race to confine to just prophecies, IMHO ^^

Mursaat would be so goddamn awesome to play. They'd have to make your character float though

Beats the heck out of yet another human archetype.

Don't forget Brutus and Sheela. In GW though, there really aren't THAT many intellegent non-human races (so far). Granted, Brutus and Sheela aren't intellegent either.

GW has the following "quasi intellegent" species which can be seen using simple tools/weapons-

Dwarfs
Centaurs
Tengu
Yeti (very primative)
Ettins (see Yeti)
Char (debatable how intellegent they are)
Druids
Wardens
Dredge

Spoilers

Wardens are clearly hostile being corrupted by Urgoz. Oni are also too nuts from an RP perspective to ever be hench. Druids are pretty passafistic and won't involve themselves with human affairs.

I think a Dredge or Dwarf hench would be sort of sweet though (hey, to escape from the oppressing Echovald Forest, I bet they could tunnel to Elona).

Basically any species thats humanoid and can talk to humans could be henchies, imo.

The Centaurs can clearly talk (maguuma missions) and are intelligent.
Dwarves are very intelligent.
Tengu i wouldnt have guessed could talk till Factions. >.>
I doubt Ettins are smart enough.
Yetis can talk to humans (Shing Jea quest)
Dredge can talk to humans
Char are obviously intelligent...they kicked our butts in ascalon.
Wardens....i dunno.

A Pet Dragon!!

well.. not really a pet... More like Heros (where you have to level them up, and give them skills) Young Drgonlings who you befriend. Can be use to added to Prophecy and Faction. Can also use for promotional purpose (buy something, get the code, use to unlock the Befriend Dragon quest, get the dragon hero/hench).

I'd also like to play something else besides the typical human. Tengu's, Dwarvs, Centaurs, etc... all look fun and promising.

Have you seen the collective IQ of Pre-Searing Ascalon? A rat on acid could tear down that place

Anyways, I don't want any other playable species, If you want to be a dwarf go play WoW. As for henchmen I don't really care... Whatever makes you happy.

Charr are really intellegent, it must have taken some thought for 10 level 10s to whipe out an entire city... and Gwen.. the evil Gwen.

I think Wallows and Mursaat are a little to creaturesk to use as a hero or playable character also, Mursaat are a little over the top in means of allignment, and they don't posses all classes, only caster classes, the physical classes are portrayed by Jade creatures. And Wallows are pretty much confined to Necromancers, outside of perhaps a boss, many creatures which can only use one or certain classes are really more creaturesk and not really a class, they just happen to use the same "skills" but if it was done more throughoughly, they wouldn't even be human skills, like the sword and axe skills Trolls use with their bare hands.....

Most real demihumans would make great race alternatives, but if they start making creatures into playable characters, I hope they get original skills, and not just creature versions of exsisting professions.

Someone's just started another thread about this exact same topic, so I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this.

I'm just scared NC-Soft are going to go down the route of trying to include every single ethnic group of humans possible as seems to be the case. I don't play fantasy MMORPG's to play as something that I am in RL. Really, being a human gets boring after a while ^_^
